在1995年，一位有錢人被綁架勒贖，這位有錢人在被綁架後很快就被撕票了，但他們還是繼續向他的家人勒贖。最後終於嫌犯落網，但故事還沒有結束…

這些壞人被警察逮捕，他們告訴警察徐自強跟他們一起做了這件事情，但徐自強完全沒有犯罪。這些壞人卻說徐自強這個人跟他們一起犯了罪，因為他們為了要拖延案件的審理時間，所以說徐自強是他們的共犯。一開始徐自強很緊張很害怕，所以想要躲起來，可是他後來覺得他應該要相信台灣的司法，所以他去自首，請警察調查一下，他真的沒做。然而，台灣的法院沒有足夠的證據能證明徐自強也做這件壞事，但還是說徐自強犯了罪，然後判他死刑。

徐自強的媽媽相信自己的兒子沒有犯罪所以一直提出上訴。他的媽媽、律師還有很多人權團體，一直努力了10幾年，直到2012年法院才讓徐自強出獄，很可憐。此外，他不是在普通的監獄，一般的監獄會有放風的時間，死刑犯沒有，就是一個密閉空間。台灣政府覺得很抱歉，所以給徐自強2812萬台幣，但17年的時間就這樣沒了，非常可怕。
